Lately, some people have suggested that I should share the story of our farm again, so here it is: I was raised in Texas and started my nursing career in a bustling ER in an inner city in Texas. After 4 years, I worked as a flight nurse with @careflite1979, where I met my significant other. 😊 We had a large backyard, a small garden, and welcomed 4 children within the first 5 years of our marriage.
I completed my MSN while flying and birthing babies, then we relocated to WV where my husband finished his Master's degree. During that period, I worked as an RN, taught nursing, and gardened while watching our children grow. After spending some years in WV, we returned with our family to the NW where my husband grew up.
Here, we witnessed our children blossoming into incredible individuals. We adore them immensely! For over 20 years, we have been residing in Montana. Throughout this time, I worked as a nurse in the ER and as an APRN, and all the while, I gardened.
In 2017, when my last son ventured off to college and we didn’t need as much food out of the garden, I flipped all the vegetable beds to flowers and it’s been so fulfilling, so magical that there was no turning back!
I’ve gardened in three regions of the United States but none have been so challenging as Montana.
And none so rewarding.
I started @mtnprairieflowerfarm in 2017 when I was 58 years old. Our flower farm has grown exponentially, especially the last two years. I still practice as an NP. I have hired help on Friday mornings during the summers but will be expanding that during next year’s growing season. I’m really bad at showing my face on social media but I know folks like to KNOW their farmer and you can’t know them if you don’t know what they look like. So I’ll try and be better about that.
This is already a blog long note so I’ll finish by saying:       Â
  ~ Flowers are magic.         Â
~ 58 is not too old to start anything.         Â
~ If you can dream it, you can do it.Â
It’s been an honor to bring magic into the lives of others through flowers.
Until next time!
All my best,
Elizabeth
